Education activities
The farm provides a wide-ranging educational programme in it fully equipped classroom. Over 200 school groups participate each year in tours and one of the workshops the farm offers. These include--to name a few--wool, bread making, cooking, gardening, composting. arts and crafts, spinning & weaving. Other educational activities can be discussed with the education coordinator.

Educational courses
The farm's educational courses are accredited by the Open College Network London Region. The courses include carpentry, cooking, animal care, horticulture, beekeeping and health and safety on the farm. Completion of the program gives the young person a nationally recognized qualification raising achievement and acting as an inspiration to continue learning.

Volunteers on the farm are encouraged to register for the courses and obtain a nationally recognised qualification. If you are not a registered volunteer, you can still do our courses at £500 per course. Each course is approximately, however students can take longer to complete the course. For further information, please contact the Regeneration Programme Manager.

Family learning (Download leaflet)
Freightliners City Farm Family learning programme aims to bring inner city families together to learn new skills and gain new experiences in an exciting rural type outdoor environment. The program is supported by The Big Lottery Fund.

There are three groups running each week for young children and their families and the farm is open for families to explore and plan their own learning time Tuesday to Sunday. The groups are regularly attended by a variety of children's professionals so here's your chance to find out more about child development, nursery places and local support services face to face.

Watch out for the holiday activities for children of all ages to get together and other special events throughout the year.

Family learning is expanding with more and more places offering opportunities for parents and children to learn together. We have included links to local services and national networks below and there will be a slowly expanding set of resources for you to download and bring along to the farm to enhance your day out.

Farm Activity
The fur, feather and skin game introduces young children to words and nature work they will cover at school and is a fun way for everyone to explore the farm. Encourages older children to look at signage to find out animal names and could be the start of a discussion about the differences between the animals.
