Support us

The Farm lost 70% of its core funding in 2002. Since that time, the farm has been responsible for generating its own income. This is mainly done through continuous fundraising and remains a challenging activity; the farm needs all the support it can get.

Ways to help the Farm

Adoption
Adopt an animal. Animals on the farm are up for adoption; the adoption fee varies for each animal.

Adopt a tree. We have just planted an orchard; the apple trees are all varieties old native apple trees. Most of these apples cannot be bought in shops as modern hybrid trees produce many more apples and are pest-resistant. The trees on the farm are part of our heritage, but unfortunately they are no longer economically viable. The apple trees can be adopted for £30 each.

Buy an animal
Freightliners Farm adopted a non-slaughtering policy. This means that our animals are not bred for consumption. Many of our animals are rare breeds. We keep and sell chickens, ducks, geese, goats, sheep, turkeys, guinea fowl, quail, pigeons & doves, rabbits and guinea pigs. For more information, go here.

Donations
Visit the farm. Although the entry is free we welcome donations. Please be generous and leave your donation in the donation box which is situated on the animal house.

If you would like to donate some more monies you can fill in the Gift Aid Donation Form and return it to the office with your cheque.

Friends of the Farm
Become a friend for £15 a year. As a friend of the farm you are entitled to:

* a quarterly newsletter
* 10% discount on garden plants
* 10% discount on boarding your animal
* 10% discount on farm compost and manure

Edinburgh Marathon
Run the Edinburgh Marathon for the Farm. This annual event takes place in Edinburgh in June; you would need to raise £500. To find out more about the Edinburgh Marathon, click here.

Memorial Benches:

Other
Buy some food for the animals. In the animal house we have a feed machine. A portion of food can be bought for £1. Tokens for the machine can be bought from the office.
