  • Egg Hunt, no need to book. Register at the Egg Hunt desk from 12.30pm to pick up instructions. Under 5s starts at 1.30pm, 5-8 years at 2pm, 8-12 years at 2.15pm and 13+ at 2.30pm

  • Easter Bonnet Parade at 3pm - bring your own or make one at the Farm.

EASTER ON THE FARM Islington Young People Discover FREE* LEARNING AND EXPERIENCE ACTIVITIES

Open to all young people over 13 who live or go to school in Islington.

Tuesday 16 April

10am – 1pm and 2-5pm Discover Animal Care

Find out about the animals on the Farm.  Get a taste of caring for farm animals, including cows, goats, pigs and sheep

Come along in the morning to complete an induction for regular farm activities/volunteering.

Wednesday 17 April  

11am – 1pm Discover Dog care and welfare with the Dogs Trust 

2 – 5pm        Discover Garden construction

Construction and landscaping, building flower beds.  Help us build our new garden.

 

Thursday 18 April  

11am – 1pm Discover Willow weaving

2 – 4pm        Discover Gardening

Help us to plant the spring garden

 

Friday 19 April   

10am – 1pm and 2-5pm Discover City Farming

Find out about the Farm including the animals, gardens and cafe

Islington Young People Discover is part of LBI Recreation and Adventure Programme for young people aged 13+

 

Farming Families Activities are open to children of all ages and their carers on a drop-in basis. 

 

Tuesday 19th February

10am-1pm & 2pm-5pm         Islington Young People Discover Animal Care

Learn about caring for and handling the animals on the farm.

2pm -4pm                               Farming Families drop-in and meet the animals.

 

Wednesday 20th February

10.30am-1pm                         Islington Young People Discover Herbs and Spices- Learn about the herbs and spices we grow on the farm and help us start sowing seeds for the summer.

2pm-4pm                                Islington Young People Discover Feltmaking

2pm-4pm                                Farming Families felt making drop-in session

 

Thursday 21st February

11am-1pm & 2-4.30pm          Islington Young People Discover Construction Skills – Learn how to mix concrete, build a wall, paint and prepare metal work whilst helping to renovate the farm.

11am-1pm & 2pm-4pm         Farming Families drop-in and make a beeswax candle

 

Friday 22nd February

11am-1pm & 2-4.30pm          Islington Young People Discover Carpentry.  Learn how to use basic woodworking hand tools to build a garden bed on the farm.

2pm-4pm                                Farming Families drop-in and make a willow fish or butterfly

 

Donations warmly welcomed

 

Young people taking part in Discover Sessions must complete a registration and consent form. Children under 11 years must be accompanied by a responsible carer.

Halloween Funday Fundraisier

Dress up in your Halloween Costumes and join the trick or treat treasure hunt with our animals. A chance to make your own treat bag, meet and greet some of the animals around the farm and pick up some treats on the way. There’ll also be pumpkin carving, face painting and a spooky selfie set complete with its own black cat.

We’re raising funds for the farm so there is a small charge for activities £3.50 per child for the treasure hunt and £2.00 per pumpkin for carving. Donations and sponsorship for dressing up and taking part in the treasure hunt very welcome.

Islington Young People Discover City Farming

An introduction to Freightliner’s City Farm, the animals, gardens and other activities and opportunities for young people to get involved on a regular basis. The session will include a tour of the farm, chance to meet the animals and an introduction to health and safety. This session is essential for young people wishing to participate in regular farm activities including for completion of awards such as Duke of Edinburgh and/or for those wishing to take up work experience placements.

This session is part of Islington Council’s Recreation and Adventure Programme which provides activities for young people living or attending school in Islington to be adventurous in their free time.

Islington Young People Discover Animal Care

Have a go at being a city farmer for a day. You will have the chance to meet the animals feed, muck out and groom them. Learn what you need to provide for an animal in your care and get a taster of a career in animal care. You will also get an introduction to Freightliners Farm and to health and safety working with animals and in a farm environment. If you are thinking about joining one of our regular young people’s activities or volunteering this is a great introduction and gives you a fast track route to signing up.

Part of Islington Council's  Summerversity and Launchpad Programmes.  For Young people aged 13 upwards. Learn skills in farm and pet animal care, food growing and production, cooking, crafts, café service and barista-ing. Put your skills to the test serving real customers in ‘Summerversity does the Strawbale Café’ and run your own farm shop.

AM  Learn about simple activities which explore materials through crafts and play.  Make your own piece of felt from sheep's wool and play dough using flour, salt and oil.

PM  Share the skills you have learned with visiting families and build skills and experience in teaching and leadership to add to your cv and use in the future.
